Beautiful pub and atmosphere. eating was of good quality and piping hot. the service was somewhat slow, but the pub was pretty busy for a lunchtime.
We all had the roast beef. It was fatty and tough in places. I chose the Eton Mess for dessert. It was disappointing, only having a few small pieces of meringue. Two of us shared the waffles. They were fine. I think something needs to be done about the acoustics in the restaurant. As the ceiling is quite low it gets very noisy when the restaurant is full. Other than that it is a pleasant place to eat and the service was quick. Maybe an off day?
Decided on Sunday roasts, 3 beef and 1 rolled belly pork, food could not be faulted. Beef was just right and pork was very tasty all with perfectly cooked vegetables. Table was at 2.15pm so end of service but everything was served with consideration.
Disappointing overall. Previous experience at the Blue Ball a couple of years ago was excellent, prior to new management Not enough staff in the restaurant. Had to approach staff to order drinks and food Waited 45 mins to order and another 45 to be served Food was fine but not inspirational enough to warrant another visit Over 2 hours after booking time we were thinking about ordering dessert but needed to leave, didn’t expect to have to wait so long
