Food absolutely delicious and plenty of it. Even though we out stayed our time because we were blethering and catching up with each other from 2023 there was no pressure from staff to leave. They were happy to provide us with extra teas, coffees, drinks. Manager and staff were amazing. Attentive, courteous, polite, pleasant, professional. Would highly recommend Luna Ross in Renfrew.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal with all dishes being declared delicious. One of our party has to eat gluten free and there was plenty of choice for her. We’d mentioned it when booking and the waiter checked who it was when we arrived something that’s always appreciated as it gives you some confidence that the restaurant takes your dietary requirement seriously. Between us we had two different risottos, a burger, an apple tart, and a fantastically light vanilla and raspberry ripple cheesecake. With drinks and coffees it came to less than £70 for three of us, which we thought was good value compared to other restaurants we’ve eaten in recently. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived (5pm on a Saturday) but was filling up as we left. Service was friendly and efficient.
We visited early Sat evening for a meal for four! We have been to this restaurant many times as we live local and had heard it was under new management! This was the best meal we have had there! It was busy so yes it took slightly longer but that suited us to not be rushed in eating our meal! Service was great but it was the food that stood out! It was very tasty! We would definitely recommend visiting!
I must say, Luna Rossa had a great reputation, but I heard it had recently been taken over so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant was nicely decorated, although I personally did not like it, and the Luna Rossa sign had been taken down, making it feel like the soul had been taken out of the place. I waited about 15 minutes to get a drink, even though it wasn't very busy at that time. I then waited 26 minutes for my main meal and had to ask for it. My son ordered mozzarella sticks for £7.50 for two, which felt like a rip off. We even had to ask for black pepper, which came in a cheap container. Halfway through my meal, I noticed that the carbonara was curdled, although it tasted okay. Our bill came to over £98 for 3 people, including 2 starters that were not worth it, 3 mains that seemed more expensive than before, and 3 drinks each. It was the most expensive meal we've ever had there. The toilets were also disappointing, with the nice hand soap removed and replaced with cheap soap on the shelf above. I could continue, but seriously, I doubt I'll be back. I used to recommend Luna Rossa to everyone, but after this experience, I am thoroughly disappointed. We weren't even asked how our meal was until we went to the bar to pay, and when we mentioned it was okay, the server didn't even apologize. The overall service was very poor.
Never experienced this in a restaurant before. 4 of us for lunch 3 of the lunches were lovely. I wasn’t happy with my chicken, there was a pink tinge to it and the texture not to my liking. The chef advised that the pink tinge and texture was down to the marination which is fair enough (everyone’s taste differs) but it was the attitude and unfriendliness of the staff that really shocked me. The waiter asked if my food was okay and I said it wasn’t but don’t worry about it I didn’t feel like anything else after taking one bite out of the chicken and he said “no worries, we will take it off the bill” which is standard in a restaurant if you don’t like your food. When the bill came the assistant manger words were “the chef said the chicken was fully cooked and we will not be taking it off the bill”. I said I didn’t think I should pay for it and she responded “that’s theft”. Wow, just wow. I am certainly no thief and we left the full amount, but never again. Customer service is key, and there was no evidence of this whatsoever.
