Perhaps he didn 't understand my English. But put that together with the slow service, and this was just a terrible experience. A long wait for poor food.
Nice discovery, a restaurant like this above Rennes railway station, especially after 8 hours travelling. Welcoming, good varied menu, high quality produce, and a nice beer too. Plenty of space, young staff enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Will definitely come again!
I 'll preface this by saying I 'm not sure what to expect from a restaurant of this calibre in a train station. The food was good but not remarkable; the physical environment was pleasant but not particular welcoming. The staff however were friendly and attentive and made the experience very personal; it would be difficult to fault the waiter who served us our dinner. We left thinking 'that was nice ' but I guess we were hoping for more. It is, of course, very convenient for the train (and for some that will be what makes them eat there, that was certainly the case for us) but within Rennes there are lots more interesting places to eat
From the way to Rennes, I was pleasantly surprised by the station. The architecture of this one gives it a luminous effect with a lot of free height. You do not feel that the feeling of being compressed and suffocated under a very low ceiling The signal is well provided and well thought out. I enjoyed this passage in this station
Actually, I was expecting a smaller station. It is well located, very close (5 to 10 minutes from a shopping center and a large square (cinema, concerts, ... . You can take your coffee, and consume your food in suitable spaces, but also outdoors. You will be happy because this station offers plenty of space to sit down If you take the TER, Google Maps does not tell you that you have to take a ticket, but it is mandatory, know it!
