This restaurant take away is head and shoulders above any other place for fish and chips the grilled fish is beautifully fresh and succulent, nothing like the miserable fare most fish and chips places will serve up. But boy is this place wildly popular...on a Friday night! There’s a huge crush of people milling around in the entrance, long waits and the odd frayed temper as a result. Parking can be difficult too. But we keep coming back because the food is so wonderful. Best to order over the phone, add 15 minutes to their typically over optimistic suggested time, nip in and out for your order and enjoy in the local park or at home!
We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The food had the potential to be amazing, but it was ruined by an excessive amount of salt that overwhelmed our dishes. We decided to give it another chance and requested no salt, but unfortunately, my burger was still overly salty. It was a letdown.
This restaurant used to be small and operated by a lovely older couple who were very welcoming. However, the new, larger establishment managed by the younger generation of the family has declined in quality. In particular, the daughter is rude and arrogant towards customers. I hope they can bring back the kind and friendly service that the old couple provided.
Recently, I visited the new location to discuss making a reservation for a meal with some family members from Perth who are seafood enthusiasts. However, my experience at the counter was less than satisfactory. When I approached the counter at 11:30 a.m., I was met by a woman who seemed more interested in shredding papers than assisting me. After waiting for over a minute, she finally acknowledged my presence with a less-than-friendly attitude. When I inquired about making a reservation for four people either for lunch or dinner, she curtly replied that they do not accept bookings and I would have to simply show up. I was taken aback by her dismissive behavior, as the only other establishments I can think of that operate with this policy are fast food chains like McDonald's, Hungry Jacks, and KFC. Regardless of how delicious the food may be, I am not comfortable with the uncertainty of being able to secure a table upon arrival. As a result, I am now exploring other options for my annual Christmas meal. To the owner, Nick, or his son, if you happen to read this, I urge you to reconsider the direction in which your business is heading. Melbourne boasts a multitude of top-notch restaurants, and while your establishment may be thriving now, customer care should always remain a priority. Remember, there was a time when you valued your patrons more than it appears you do now.
