While these dishes are likely prepared well, with so many fast food options in the area, this restaurant feels like just another one to me. Overall, there isn't anything that really stands out for me here anymore.
We began our dining experience with drinks and appetizers and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and delicious food. This led us to prolong our stay and order more drinks for dinner. We highly recommend this charming spot for a drink or meal, as you will not be disappointed!
This unique restaurant tucked away in the Central Square Shopping Centre has undergone various changes to become what it is today. Despite being locals, we often overlook it, but are always impressed by the delicious food each time we dine there. Our most recent visit was no exception. The Chicken Parmigiana was a generous portion of high-quality chicken breast, topped with a delectable sauce and served with tasty beer battered chips. The Surf and Turf from the specials board featured a well-cooked 250gm steak topped with an array of seafood, including large prawns, fresh calamari, and a Morton Bay bug. It was accompanied by beer battered fries and a creamy garlic sauce. The slow-braised lamb shanks were also a highlight, with tender meat that fell off the bone, served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The restaurant has a chic, almost gothic ambiance that transports you from the suburbs. The intimate space includes two indoor dining areas separated by a bar. Despite arriving late for our reservation, we were the only diners at one end as the room was being set up for a private event later in the evening. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, providing excellent service. While some may find them overly familiar, we appreciated the personal touch. Our meal, including four main courses and drinks, came to around $120.00, which we found to be great value for the quality and quantity of food we received. We will definitely be returning.
Tried for the first time and had a nice lunch. The burger was expensive but was also very good. Plenty of sides which was nice.
This funky little space hidden away at the back of Central Square Shopping Centre has gone through a number of incarnations to get to where it is today. Even as locals, we tend to forget about it, and yet are blown away by the great food each time we visit. Our latest dining experience was no different. Chicken Parmigiana was a huge serving of quality chicken breast, with a delectable topping, served with delicious beer battered chips. Surf and Turf off of the specials board was a 250gm steak, perfectly cooked to well done (over cooked in my view, but none the less) with an assortment of seafood piled atop, including several large prawns, fresh calamari and a Morton Bay bug. Again, this came out with a helping of the beer battered fries and a creamy garlic sauce. Finally, the slow braised lamb shanks. Two shanks, with tender meat literally falling from the bone, on a bed of smooth mash potato and seasonal vegetables. The restaurant itself is chic in an almost gothic way. It is dark and moody and gives the impression that you're no longer in the suburbs. It is a relatively small space, with two indoor dining areas separated by a bar area. Having booked late, we were the sole diners at the one end, as the room around us was prepared for a private function later in the evening. From prior experience, it can get busy and somewhat cramped in here at times though. There is also a large al-fresco area running the length of the establishment, which would be just the ticket for a relaxed drink before dinner in time permitted. Our wait staff were both very friendly and attentive, looking after us with practised ease. To some, they may have been slightly over familiar, but I like this personal touch myself. All up, four main courses and drinks came to about $120.00, which I felt was exceptional value for money for the quality and quantity of food which we enjoyed. We shall definitely return.
