For somewhere in the mountains, this is a great place to stay. We brought our own food. There are no cooking options, apart from a sink, some plates and cutlery, so if you are catering for yourself, you are recommended to bring your own equipment. We slept in a room with two bunk beds and a single bed. A little squish! And we shared a room with a man I wasn't sure about because there weren't many people in the place where it would have been nice if they had placed us in different rooms, but overall there was no problem. A blanket and a pillow are available, but bring your own sheet to sleep, i.e. I took a blanket and slept in it and then put the blanket on me. Cleaning facilities are good with working toilets, sinks and a shower that costs 3 € for 5 minutes warm water (we simply went without and cleaned in a lake the next day! . The dining area is sweet with many tables and benches, some cards and games and French books. The staff is attentive and friendly and made a great hot chocolate! I would recommend a stay here and although we had no food there, the foods that were served by the other residents look very good with large portion sizes. And even if you don't stay at night, serve drinks and food for lunch with sitting outside and an outside toilet. The refuge is easily recognizable and surrounded by sheep in pastures - absolutely stunning.
Went on a two day hike with my friend (both of us female) and we stopped here for 1 night. We booked in a few days before hand but it was quiet so plenty of room if we had not booked. Super refuge if you want to travel light for long hours of hiking. a cinquentaine of euros for evening meal (flat entrance dessert made home super from beginning to end and in large quantity), one night (2 duvets and pillow provided ) and breakfast (drink, orange juice, toasted butter and cereal and a cake). friendly staff! clean sanitary (wc and sink right next to beds ) . possibility to take a shower by paying . dormitory of several people separated in box of 4 people. terasse and splendid view. go to the eyes closed :)
It is regrettable that the climate inside the shelter does not offer something less cold than outside! the reception is deplorable and cold, at the limit of the mal-friendly! Personally, I will share my coffee with the sheep around during a next climb. I'm inviting you to do that. It's too bad!
The refuge is ideally located to achieve a 2-day loop around the great colony. departure from the large parking lot of the 4 paths to 10 mn of road above revel. climbing through the crozet lake. count 3 hours to reach the shelter. The refuge of the pra is made up of 2 buildings, one essentially offers the restoration and in the other there are the dormitory rooms for 4. each person has an individual bed with a clean and comfortable pillow and quilt. impeccable sanitary. Only flat - important - to the pleasure of being in this place located in a superb alp, the amount of food served at dinner. after a clear soup, the portions of meat are to be shared with parkimony under risk of seeing the boss manifest his bad mood by uncommon remarks if one dares ask for amounts adhoc ... history of filling the hungry teenage stomachs. The female gente is much more cordial and is attached to a suitable service but it is still a shame to have to remind the manager that the portions of mountain food are significantly different from those of a dish of the day in the valley, especially for a refuge whose access to the supply is not the most extreme. in summary a very beautiful mountain stage, a comfortable and relaxing night but we will not return for the guardian's dinner.PS: if this notice is helpful, please click, it encourages to continue ...:)
