I had the Elote (Mexican corn) and salmon ceviche for just a light meal. The ceviche was a little plain, but tasted fresh. The elote was bomb!! Topped off with a couple of tasty margs and I was a happy camper. Service was good and friendly, even as busy as they were.
Dinner was disappointing. My son, who essentially eats as many Burgers as humanly possible, did not like the one at Old School. And I tried what he rejected and also did not like it. As did my other son. The bao was ok, but the pancake was cold. The birria tacos were fine but very fried. The lamb chops were also decent, but not great. All that for $118, which seemed pricey. French fries were dry, hard, disappointing. The school is cool, though.
The bao buns are to die for, ribs fall of the bone. And if you just want a burger the smash burger add bacon and cheese will hit the spot
Passing through Revelstoke on the way in or out? Next time plan to stay a bit longer and maybe plan a couple meals here! There's history in these walls and you can read about it when you get to class. Well, the classroom has been converted into a diner but it looks like anything but your typical burger joint. Don't drive past this place (it's easy to miss since they can't change the external facade of the building for historical reasons). It's in a school zone so you shouldn't be driving fast anyway. Speaking of schools, it's literally inside an old school. The staff are friendly and the food is presented with care. It's off the beaten path, but worth the excursion. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu (it changes seasonally)
Simply fantastic. Great ambiance, great food, great service. Reasonable price. Friendly helpful service.
