The food was great and the waiting staff was friendly
Excellent service, excellent food. A very pleasant experience.
What a great atmosphere and excellent service! We sat beside an actual fireplace with a roaring fire that the wait staff tended to. Hanging plants and candlelit dinner lighting accentuated the authentic woodwork and high ceilings that I can only compare to the great hunting lodges of the Norwegian culture. I had the seafood salad (a bed of vegetables, upon which was put real, large scampi-style shrimp) and lobster bisque--which was just spot on, not that cream-of-imitation-crab-meat stuff that comes from a can. And their bar was also kind enough to mix me up an Arnold Palmer, which while it isn't on the menu, they executed wonderfully. I would have had dessert--but I was full up as they don't skimp on portions! Our Hostess was observant and quickly paired us to our party, albeit not knowing our faces. Our server was thoughtful and offered suggestions, but allowed us to carry on our conversations without interruption. I'd recommend this place for any person who wants cloth-napkin grade fine dining at easily half the price. While the exterior may not betray it, and the location is just a bit beguiling, The Thunderbird is one of the hidden gems of the Alleghenies... And even I missed it, right under my nose, for almost 20 years.
Very good service; Eating is also good.
