Although for the first time in this timewarp café of the 1970s there can be nerve wrecking (especially if they don't look locally and in a certain age), they are not shy: it's clean, friendly, not too expensive. eating is excellent by its kind and satisfying on old-fashioned wise. I love the old black plastic menu on the wall with pushed white lettering, rarely seen since my childhood. come here for: cakes and savours, perfect jackenkartoffels, sandwiches, cakes, excellent cakes and a cup of tea. do not come here for: coffee (if they are not like weak instant coffee). counter service, only cash. expect a short waiting queue to midday, especially samstage. update okt 2020. now takes card payment.
Big small cheaper place to lunch great value for money would recommend
Excellent place and my favourite café for the last 44yrs
My sisters live in Clitheroe and I've been in here a couple of times with Rory. It's quite old fashioned but brilliant for being so. The food is very good and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. I notice quite a few of the reviews mention that payment is by cash only but they do have a card machine now. Highly recommended
