Since we were new to Sao Miguel, we wanted to have local specialties and Vitor guided us through the entire night with explaining how everything is made and how the locals have it. We haven't had a single look into the menu :D. I can absolutely recommend this place and would like to point out Vitor as a man who understood his profession!
We happened by this small cafe while walking around the central square. The rotisserie chicken just at the doorway caught our attention. My wife went in and was immediately greeted by a waiter, and shown the inside dining room and the outdoor tables. We chose to eat inside as the sun was a little warm that day. There is seating for about 15 people in the dining room, a few spots at the bar at the front, and quite a few tables outside. The lunch menu was fairly extensive. We chose a 1/2 chicken dinner that came with fries and rice, and a bifana. A serving of fresh local bread was delivered as soon as we ordered. Both meals were very good. During the time we were there three of the employees stopped by and politely asked if everything was okay with the meal. The young waiter who served us spoke perfect English, and was personable and friendly. Great food at fair prices!
A small, simple restaurant good for a quick bite and popular with locals. We had lunch here after some morning hike and ordered roasted chicken and roasted pork. The chicken was excellent (tender and excellently seasoned, 5 stars) while the pork was average (too dry, 3 stars). Bill came to about 20 euros with some drinks.
My wife and I poped in here for a quick drink and a roll. We had 2 Tune rolls a lemonade and a beer which came to 3 Euros 20c which was good value. the Tuna was spicy and in a red pepper oil! Try it! The town is interesting also, nice views of town square.
Num ambiente de tasca, comida caseira, saborosa, do mais típico e regional. Aqui sabe a Açores. Recomendo vivamente.
