Never try this drink and the Takoyaki here! It’s terrible. Never have I had such a bad drink. I don't recommend the Takoyaki. It has a sour taste. My bite feels like a small flour ball. It doesn't come with a traditional sauce. I believe it is a failure of creativity.Food: 1/5
One of the outstanding thing from this restaurant is the service. The lady that helped us that day is very attentive, friendly, and warm. Haven't seen much of an attentive server lately. A+. She would come over to top up our water and make sure everything is okay without being too pushy and talkative like some western style restaurants. I sometime just want to enjoy my meal without being interrupted at the not so right moment ?. She managed to do that, kudos! I felt her geniality some other places I don't feel that. For the environment. It's quite spacious and clean. The ceiling is very high. But... The music at that time is quite loud. I don't know if because I have hard of hearing or not it's hard to have a conversation with my friend ?. (Wear your hearing protection if you work in a loud environments kids. Don't be like me ??)I ordered Yuzu Shio Ramen that day. The Yuzu is such a perfect flavour for the hot summer day. Very light and refreshing. But! Their broth is on the greasy side. I noticed the same thing on my friend's Tonkotsu ramen too. However, the highlight in the ramen bowl gotta be the chashu. The hint of sweetness from the chashu made it extra tasty. The char flavour also add another dimension to whole experience. I still don't like the greasy broth. Just my opinionThe karaage I found it acceptable for my liking. Not many ramen places can make karaage that I like. I like Izumiya's cold karaage more. Now you know how I like my chickens.I found the pricing is on the very high side for ramen. I don't find it worth it.Lastly. Washroom is quite clean and comfortable. Not a problemIn summary, this place is 3 stars in my book. Not bad, not best. This will not be my no.1 choice. But I dont mind coming back if no better options are available.*Edited for some typosParking: Come here early for more parking. Because they are share between near by shops
Every time I’ve stopped by Izumiya, Ive thought about going to Afuri. I finally made it in and was a little underwhelmed.I think that we are spoiled in the Vancouver area with our Ramen restaurants and the Ramen, Gyoza and Donburi at Afuri are just so-so for the price point. I had the special cold chicken yuzu tsukemen and while the flavours were fine, the portions were small. Usually ramen places leave you full and satisfied and this just wasn’t the case. The pork buns on the kids menu were good, but a little chewy for kids.
The parking lot is large so you don't have to worry about parking. The restaurant is bright and spacious, but the privacy of the seats is not very good. It's easy to eat face to face with other people. The presentation of ramen here is relatively new, so it is not suitable for those who like traditional ramen.
