Have been coming here for a decade whenever we visit family in Vancouver. Had family dinner this summer after an absence of 2 years. Was not disappointed!! Down to earth, reasonably priced. Had steamed lobster over sticky rice amongst others. Comfort food in my book. Reasonable set course dinners as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered at this restaurant, including the congee, buns, and Chinese donut! We even took some buns to go. There were plenty of breakfast options to choose from.
Happy Date is a decent HK Style Cafe situated in the heart of Richmond along No 3 road across from Richmond Center. We were planning to have Shanghai cuisine for breakfast but it wasn't open early in the morning, so we decided to check out Happy Date for a quick breakfast. Service was great for a HK Style Cafe standard (which is minimal), and upon entering the restaurant we were surprised how much room and tables are in there. My wife had the Congee where I had a Satay Beef Instant Noodle soup. Both came relatively quickly and the portions are quite good! Prices are decent as well for the portion. I had the HK Style Milk Tea which was very flavorful as well. Will definitely return!
It's a bit of a hole-in-a-wall, but the food is amazingly good for value. My family particularly likes to come for dinner to have the lobster combo meal. Some Chinese restaurants tend to skimp out a little in their serving size despite their claims, but we're happy to see that Happy Date isn't part of that.
