Ramen Izakaya Okawari - Richmond

I decided to try out this small Japanese restaurant with my grandma on a whim because I was craving Ramen and wanted to try something different.

We tried to eat at this restaurant three times before finally getting a table! On our first attempt, we were starving and found a line of people waiting outside, so we had to come back later.

This Korean restaurant is one of my favorites for their delicious ramen dishes.

I used to come here a lot because I really like their ramen. Their flavours are still great and the noodle texture is excellent. However, the service was horrible! I have never received such service from anywhere before. When we asked for condiments for our meals we got an eye roll before they brought it out to us and when the bill came we paid with cash and waited for our change. We waited and we noticed that they weren't in the process of getting our change at all. I caught them looking over a couple of times but would look away when they caught my eye. Finally (after realizing they probably won't be giving us our change) I asked for it and they reluctantly brought it over with a bit of an attitude. I usually put into consideration the amount of tip I give someone. Great service will definitely get you more from me. 15-20% is my average but when you take 20% without giving me any change just because you put two bowls of noodles and some sushi on our table is incredibly disrespectful. Because of this, I decided to leave them a much smaller tip than I intended to and they came by to look at how much tip I was leaving as well. I'm sorry, but that's so rude. Seeing the amount I left, I received another eye roll and a few words in another language. Unfortunately, the chef/cook in the back was nice with their friendly thank you's and goodbyes, and they make great food but I doubt I'd ever return or recommend it to anyone. In fact, I regret even tipping what I did considering the attitude and rude service we received.

I had lunch with family in the restaurant. We ordered the lunch special and Black Ramen. It was all right and decent, but may seem a bit pricey. The service was so-so, and it was decent.
