It took over 10 minutes just to receive the menu, and that’s in January! I can't imagine how long the wait would be during peak season!
**Excellent Dining Experience** I was shocked to see a restaurant with only a 25% approval rating! It's hard to understand why, as my experience was quite positive. The service was quick, efficient, and very friendly, and the food was tasty. The raw oysters are served with two delightful sauces that complement them perfectly. The mussels and clams are prepared simply, allowing their natural flavors to shine through. Although the crab cakes are a bit on the small side, they are exceptionally well-prepared. The pan-fried oysters are plump and cooked to perfection.
Backhand Chowder. The Mama's Chowder is so yummy! Make sure to grab a Backhand of God stout with it!
The food at Shady Island is fairly average—nothing too exciting, but the meals are satisfying enough. One advantage is that you never have to wait to get a table, which makes for a much less frustrating experience compared to other restaurants in Stevenson.
The seafood is incredibly fresh. I highly recommend ordering the fishermen’s pot; the butter sauce is fantastic! I just wish there was more toast to go with it. The location is perfect, right at the pier in Fisherman’s Wharf, making it easily accessible and surrounded by wonderful restaurants. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive!
