All staff wore masks and had gloves on. The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful, comfortable, there were fancy chandeliers, and there was social distancing. The portions were appropriate, but each dumpling was filled with large amounts of very, very fresh and hot off the stove/steamer. This was the best dim sum experience I have ever had. I look forward to returning soon.
It was a great experience and the staff were very kind and he,Paul and we were seated right away. The food was delicious and is some of my favourite dim sum in Metro Vancouver!
The restaurant has an elegant classic Chinese setting but to me it 's a bit out dated. Once we went there for dim sum lunch, but last August we went for a banquet there. The dishes were very fancy. There was one dish call Braised Whole Fresh Abalone . The server warmed up the abalone with soup in front of the guests one by one for each guest. Our table had 12 people; that sure took some time to warm them up one by one. I guess that is called service with class. The abalone was good. One thing was the banquet didn 't take up the whole restaurant space. So they put up dividers to block off the banquet area. But there were still some openings. People poked their head in to peek. I felt very uncomfortable with no privacy at all. Happy Travelling!
Shiang Garden Restaurant 敘香園 located the other side of Fraser River, facing Vancouver Airport, not far from our hotel: Abercorn Inn. The restaurant has an elegant classic Chinese setting and beautiful decoration. The service was swift cordial and professional. We, a group of friends/alumni, visited it when we returned to our hotel after a visit to UBC Campus. We had 10 dishes of classic Chinese cuisine: all delicious and yummy. We enjoyed it very much with our friends!
My wife and I decided to try this place out knowing there was a lot of Chinese restaurants in this area. After a little trouble finding it exactly we walked in and asked to see a menu so we could decide whether or not to eat here. We were told to have a seat at a table and they would bring us menu's. After looking them over we decided to stay and eat. The staff was super friendly and always checking on us and each time someone would walk by they would fill our tea cups or even refresh our tea pot. I ordered sliced beef with rice noodles and my wife ordered the vegetables in curry sauce. Each dish contained a lot of food and both were very flavorful. My wife's dish came out in a clay pot where you could see the liquid was still boiling. There was a large party there when we ate but the noise wasn't too bad and at one point they wheeled one of the king crabs by on a cart and people were taking pictures with it. They noticed I was trying to take a picture and another customer offered to let me pick up the crab while he took a picture. I would return here again if I find myself in the area.
