Uncle Lu - Richmond

I would give this restaurant 0 stars if I could. The service was incredibly slow, and the food was not worth the wait. I placed my order by phone in advance and was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. However, when I arrived 20 minutes later, I was told at the front desk that it would be a few more minutes. I waited patiently, but after 10 more minutes, I inquired again and was told it would be ANOTHER 20 minutes. I voiced my frustration, and they promised to expedite my order. It ended up taking 55 minutes to receive my food, almost three times longer than initially promised. During my wait, several delivery drivers from other services came to pick up large orders, indicating that the kitchen was struggling to keep up. When my order finally arrived, half of it had been sitting out for 30 minutes while they finished making the fried rice dish. To make matters worse, they got my order wrong. After waiting nearly an hour and missing over half of my lunch break, I received lukewarm food that I didn't even want. No compensation was offered, and I will not be returning.

We made a reservation ahead of time, so we didn't have to wait for a table when we arrived at the restaurant. It tends to get busy during dinner hours. There were 4 of us dining this time and we ordered a main dish from the menu. The portions were generous and we had plenty to share. The food was delicious as always, and their rice and noodles are worth trying. We also tried their bubble tea for the first time and it was quite tasty.

The restaurant may be small, but it is clean and well-kept, embodying a typical Taiwanese atmosphere. Every dish we tried was excellent, with a particular highlight being their pork belly and steamed fish. We will definitely return when we are in town, although we are concerned about the limited parking available after 1 o'clock on weekends.

The quality of their foods is unstable. I guess it's about different cooks. I tried to ask the last name of the cook today, but not available. I wouldn't want to go there unless I eat pork. The fried rice noodle is so different from time to time. Sometimes I give 10 out of 10, but today, 1 out of 10.

The mutton hot pot was out of this world. Your whole body feels warm. I have never been disappointed here.
