The chicken schnitzel (fried thinly-pounded chicken) was phenomenal and the käsespätzle (cheesy egg noodles) with bratwurst was great. All the sides we had were also top notch. There's not a ton of space inside so you may have to wait for a seat but the wait is worth it. Definitely highly recommend going, my friends and I will certainly be back.
Love this place! Great German food and beer, very authentic. Will be a regular stop whenever we visit Richmond.
Wow. Beer and really great schnitzel. There were five of us and everyone was extremely impressed and very happy.
My daughter took me here for a Mothers Day dinner. Neither of us had been to Cafe Rustika before, and I hadn’t been to downtown Richmond at night in years. The restaurant is small with an old world ambience. It felt like a tiny trip to Germany. We shared the schnitzel with lemon cream sauce, spaetzle, green salad, red cabbage, sauerkraut and potatoes. The green salad dressing was exactly what my German grandmother used to serve. The sauerkraut was not as vinegary as what I’m used to and had subtle spices — so much better than unauthentic sauerkraut. The potatoes were crispy and delicious. The red cabbage was tasty with just the right amount of sweetness. I will definitely get the pork schnitzel with lemon cream sauce again. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was divine in its simplicity. We didn’t have room for dessert, but next time I’m getting it to take home. I can’t wait to go back to Cafe Rustika.
Loved this place!! Not only is the food most delicious.... The service is enthusiastically positive!! Beef tenderloin butter noodles.... Excellence!!
