Tops China - Richmond

This classic "dive" Chinese restaurant is a gem. The owners are truly wonderful and provide excellent service, just what you'd hope for at this type of establishment. They're also very accommodating when it comes to special orders, which we really appreciate.

I ordered crab rangoon and was disappointed to find they were undercooked and pale, with no trace of crab in the overly sweet white filling. There wasn't even any imitation crab inside. After trying the first one, I opened the others and discovered they were just filled with an excessively sweet cream cheese. When I called to ask about a replacement order, I was told I was wrong and that crab rangoons don't contain anything else. They refused to provide a refund, despite the clear misrepresentation of this popular dish.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant due to the service. The staff member I interacted with, a Chinese woman, was extremely rude. Despite the restaurant's advertised closing time of 9:30 PM, I arrived at 9:15 PM and was met with an unpleasant reaction from her. She then spoke in her native language, which felt disrespectful to me. In the U.S., customer service is highly valued, and this should be taken into account if you're running a business that serves the public. I would rate the customer service a 1 out of 5. However, I do have to say that the food was quite good.

This is the place to go for delicious Chinese cuisine. The name really captures what it's all about!

I had an excellent dining experience here. Having recently moved from North Jersey and the New York area, I consider myself well-versed in authentic Chinese cuisine. Some of my favorite Chinese meals have been in Chinatown and Brooklyn, NY, and I must say that Tops China comes very close to those experiences. I previously left a negative review regarding the customer service, but I’m happy to report that it has improved significantly, and the food remains outstanding!
