However, I was disappointed with the main dishes such as the Curry and Bangkok Pad Thai. The tamarind sauce was supposed to be sweet and spicy, but it was overly sweet. The dishes had an excessive amount of sugar, claiming it was coconut milk, which affected the taste. Despite the generous portion sizes, the flavors were lacking. On the positive side, the soup with two small mushrooms was tasty. In a decent restaurant, if a customer expresses dissatisfaction with a dish, they are usually offered a replacement. Unfortunately, this was not the case at Thai Basil. I was looking forward to enjoying some spicy Thai food, but was let down by the overall dining experience.
We had “Tom Yum Goong” Spicy Sour Soup w/ Tiger Prawns, Green Papaya Salad, Thai Basil Appetizer Platter and Ananas Fried Rice. Overall, the food was decent and delicious. Size was good too. I would say the Appetizer Platter was a good thing that allowed people to try different things. It was delicious, but the Satay size was a kind of Bland. That could be better.
We were a party of 10. eating was acceptable and as expected for a medium price restaurant. the service was also decent. the only grip I have is that they miscalculate to their gunsten if they force a mandatory tip when there are...6 people or more. that means you can add a mandatory type when you specify it in the menu. but the tip should be calculated before the tax, not after. the way they do it means that they get a few dollars that they illegally pack in! if the subtotal $200 for example, then 15% tax equals $30. a 20% tipp means an additional $6 in their pocket that should be in yours! they must correct this bad behavior asap or I will report it to the Revenue service. I'm sure the punishment is in the thousands when caught. the owners normally say: “Oh, everyone calculates it so.” imagine doing it only 10 times a day! Make sure the top is calculated before the tax is added. howard s.
Appetizer platter offers fish cake, garnel cake, early roll vegetarian, chicken satay that offer a good variety. excellent mango salat is not to miss. our favorite is the seafood baked in a pumpkin. small cozy atmosphere perfect for our family birthday party.
I ordered takeout from this restaurant and inquired about the portion size of the red curry. The staff member assured me that one person could finish it, so I ordered two along with other dishes. However, when I received the red curry, it was much larger than expected, more suitable for 2-3 servings or even 4 people. I learned my lesson to always ask to see the container size, although most restaurants usually show it. Despite expressing my surprise to the staff, they only laughed and said sorry. I wish they had rectified the situation, as I enjoy the food but will not be returning.
