Embers Wood Fired Pizza - Richmond

Very disappointed in the whole dinning experience, booked a table for 15,for a birthday get together, a week in advance, only two employees on that evening with a restaurant 3/4 full, took 1hr and 45 min to get our very ordinary pizzas to us, the pasta was cold and the sauce watery, the salad that came with the sloppy lasagna was slimy,the potato wedges were burnt and dehydrated,the pizzas 7 in total were thrown together, one pizza was totally forgotten, when approaching the bar for a drink was rudely told , “sit down we will be out”, when drinks arrived, the glass was filthy. Such a disappointment from the food to the service and everything in between.

It saddens me to feel the need to write this review as I usually let such incidents slide in good faith that it 's just an off day but I feel obligated on behalf of any other unsuspecting patrons that may be considering trying this place. Firstly, the waitress (whom I 'm assuming is the owner after reading all these unfortunate reviews) appeared terribly unhappy agitated as soon as we walked in. I decided to try it out for a low key dinner for my husbands birthday with our kids. Secondly, the bathroom was unclean. Thirdly, the high chair had not been cleaned was wiped down in front of us with a dirty teatowel after being pulled from storage. Fourth, with a restaurant almost empty we were seated right next to the kitchen storage room, bathroom staff entry/exit kitchen doors which wasn 't exactly atmospheric. Fifth, the food quantities were grossly overpriced. A 'large pizza ' was equivalent to a small anywhere else I 've been. I kept my thoughts to myself until I was asked upon payment 'how was everything? ' now, I thought I 'd take this opportunity to give some quiet but constructive criticism thought I 'd just focus on the food issues politely (the pizza was covered in so much BBQ sauce that the flavour of the ingredients was lost the Amatriciana pasta was lacking in any chilli the ham was cut in long, thick strips...mostly still joined) with which I was met with sarcasm hostility. I had to ask her to repeat her reply because I just couldn 't believe it. Well next time I 'll just buy the processed stuff then I replied that that wasn 't what I intended that I was merely offering a suggestion to perhaps cut it in more manageable pieces in a ratio more equivalent to the penne size. She just repeated that she 'd purchase processed stuff, she rang up the bill I closed my mouth. I felt upset that we 'd spent our hard earned money my husbands birthday in such a hostile unpleasant environment. I also feel sad for the other staff because they seem so meek, sweet hardworking. Yet what I feel most sad about is that this lady appears so unhappy in life that it 's overflowing into her business. With a business, if you want repeat business...it would be most wise to treat your customers as friends rather than enemies. I felt like I was paying to walk on eggshells. Going out is a rare occasion for us a treat but in this instance I wish we 'd have stayed home i 'd cooked like every other night there would 've been more warmth, love satisfaction. I pray you 'll perhaps look at these reviews, not with a defensive, attitude, but as a sober reminder that the service industry requires, at the very least, respect for your customers whom without, you 'd have no livelihood. I pray your happiness returns.

Excellent, nice food, warm place, friendly staff, we had a table for 10 tonight ....awesome....

This has changed owners since I was here a few years ago. I found the service a little slow. Came in for coffee after the movies and had to wait quite while before we were noticed by a waitress. After our orders were taken we waited for 20 mins for our drinks. We were about leave, when the drinks were brought over. Plenty of uncleared tables around the restaurant too. Maybe they were just finishing off the dinner rush and were a little overwhelmed.

Embers make great pizza. They have a wide range of gourmet toppings to suit individual preferences. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I really disagree with previous comments about the manager. I go to embers often and have never had a problem. Great food and great staff. Highly recommended. They have rebrsnded as Old Stables woodfired kitchen . The pizza are as follow as ever and the desserts are to die for.
