We tried to order the supposedly delicious homemade lemonade, only to be told that no one has ever ordered it before. We also ordered a homemade dish and requested it to be served cold, but were rudely informed that it had to be heated in the microwave. Overall, we wouldn't recommend or return to this restaurant, but it did provide us with a somewhat entertaining "Fawlty Towers" experience. Unfortunately, based on other reviews, it seems like this was not just a one-time occurrence.
I couldn't find anyone inside the restaurant when I arrived, but eventually a lady came from outside to serve us. We ordered roasted sandwiches for four people and asked for tomato to be added, but were told it would make the toasties too big and the cheese might fall out. Our hot drinks arrived promptly, but when the toasties came, they were made with two slices of supermarket bread with roasted fillings and were served without much attention to presentation. The lady serving us seemed quite unfriendly and bordered on being rude. I would recommend avoiding this place if possible.
Every time we visit, the owner is grumpy but the staff are lovely! Unfortunately, there was no soup available and the staff were not informed, so we ended up with just tea and toast. The dim lighting and corners seemed to attract pests, so we had to move outside where there were still some unsavory characters. We finished our meal quickly as we didn't want to linger.
We stopped here a few years ago while we ride the way of the roses and enjoyed an excellent coffee and a huge plate of made to house cake. Finally, he circled on this again today and wished we had not. the coffee was much too strong .and I like strong coffee the disc cake was tiny. the tables outside were plagued by puppies, although the outside of other farms were not. the service was also not great. will not be back.
Visited here after going to ingleborough caves, was hungry with the kids and other family members. It’s a small cozy place, but was told by the old lady she does not serve food after 2.30pm as she gets too tired. So all we could have...was a toasted tea cake or a cake with our hot drinks. Not great when kids are starving. There is a pub next door, so you could visit there. Will not visit again, which is shame really. Ended up drinking to the Lake District, which the kids enjoyed.
