Shirley's Stoney Creek - Richmondville

This used to be my favorite place in the world for Fried Seafood. They had the best Large Fried Clam Rolls around, well worth the price and would drive to get them weekly, well tonight we went their for dinner to find out they are not selling anymore Fried Seafood?? WHAT??, Stop it all together right in the middle of summer????, Sorry, but whatever the reason, they should have figured out something until next year, then change the menu. We settled for a steak sandwhich, which was awful, too much bun, the cheese wasn't even melted. I will not be back and will not recommend this place anyone. I think the passion for selling food is gone and the owner would rather just be selling quilts.

We were glad we stopped by while passing through. It's a friendly, family-run establishment, and it's true—the owner and her family make all the quilts, and we ended up buying a small one as a gift. As for the food, it was good, but not outstanding. The grilled ham and cheese earned 5 stars, the corn chowder only 2 stars, and the 8 oz bacon cheeseburger received 3 stars—it was fresh but overcooked. The selection and prices were both decent. The brownies and cookies were fantastic, earning a solid 5 stars. However, the bathrooms left much to be desired; they were worse than gas station facilities and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Despite this, we prefer this type of place over chain restaurants and are willing to sacrifice consistency for the charm of a local spot, and we recommend you do the same.

This restaurant offers a variety of handwoven items and quilts, available in sizes ranging from baby and lap size to king size. They also provide quilting classes. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
