Bamboo House - Ridgewood

I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially for people of color, as the owner exhibited blatant racism. Additionally, the establishment itself was unkempt, with unrefrigerated food left out on the tables. It was quite unpleasant.

I've known Sherri for a long time, and her food is excellent. She was very close with my husband, the notorious Joe. I absolutely love her cooking!

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. First, the lady at the front desk was outside smoking, which is not acceptable in the food industry. When I inquired about the food, specifically asking for a dish with minimal oil, they did the exact opposite. She handed me the food and claimed it was made just as I requested, with "not too much oil," but it was actually soaked in oil—almost a gallon! The vegetables were frozen and tasted awful.

I don't quite understand all the positive reviews given the food quality and the restaurant's atmosphere, which felt quite cluttered and unusual. The lady in charge seemed very kind, and the guy at the register was also really friendly. I’m sure the staff here are genuinely nice people! However, my food was rather bizarre. The soup had solidified into a doughy mass, and the wontons were heavy and possibly overdone. While the prices were on the higher side, the quality just didn’t meet expectations. I’ll give it 2 stars solely for the nice people.

I was surprised by the food quality given all the positive reviews. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, and the rice was even worse. I won’t be returning.
