Amazing food. This place rocks. Pork Belly BMT and Montauk Sandwiches were amazing. If I ever go back to this area, I'll be back.
The key here is honga is great (and I hope she reads this review), the ambiente is the best. service was terrible! you can review the review of my wife (k. fox) from before where we rated the restaurant 5 stars. waitress (red hair with goggles; hasn't caught her name) comes up and asks us for drinks reasonable. our party of 5 does not drink any alcohol and said water waitress rolls her eyes. we have not explained, we do not drink alcohol, but must we? we want water, so from there the waitress has not checked for us and not even asked us how eating on us was abandoned by the word water. we were waiting longer than others in each phase of experience around us (mind they came around 5:08pm 8 minutes after the restaurant opened and a total of 10 people at 4 separate tables were there when we first arrived). then we ordered 2 appetizers and a sushi roll. only one appetizer came out and it came out after about 30 minutes. we asked for utensils and waitress said she had received them. tick tick tick. 10 minutes later no utensilien. runner comes by to check us and we ask them for more and she brings them back immediately. we were told by the waitress that the other appetizer comes and after another 25 minutes we get the entrees (fair quantity time for freshly prepared entrees). no check-in at the waitress about this time. no second appetizer. Oh, well, we don't need the Shijitake potters we really enjoyed last time. Besides, we want to wait 30 minutes until a starter comes after we finished our escape. they must not have written it down, not a great thing. we had to wait 10 minutes after our escapes had come to one of our group to get the salat she had ordered. therefore count this 35 minutes for an salate. we have a daughter who has a deadly allergy to drowning and we have explicitly said the waitress (and I quote) our daughter has a deadly allergy to drowned and we need to make sure that there are no drowned in making the sushi roll around. waitress answers, yes we will make sure there are no nuts and it will be clean of grief. first sushi roll comes out: 6 year old daughter eats up! great sushi roll! we order a second sushi roll for our daughters 35 minutes later the second sushi roll comes out. because of the many mix-ups from the waitress to now, we ask if this sushi roll was made without being stabbed (we were clear that this was for our daughters who we had explained had a deadly allergy and she recognized this and said that no odours would be around earlier). the waitress responds to the fact that I didn't know that the area must be free from erdnuss. we have grounded in the kitchen. what?! she transfers honga and explains honga that we have not given her instructions how the kitchen should prepare the sushi roll. note that they told us before that, that no odours would be if our daughter sushi roll was prepared. we first told her that no odours should be around in making the sushi roll, as one of the sushi rolls have drowned on them, so care was valid. then the waitress turns to us and asks how hard the allergy is at all? one of our parties recalled the waitress that we said that the allergy was deadly and I went on to deliver the clinical foundation that she demanded by telling the author that our daughter went to the paediatric icu due to erdnus exposure, with resulting anaphylactic shock. first rule in the service: defend themselves and ask the customer. honga takes over and is graciously saying that they 'll bring that sushi roll back and make a new one with the counters cleaned and no possible drowned around. hopefully observed and learned the waitress instead of thinking how she would defend herself later. this time comes sushi roll out in 10 minutes and now the restaurant is full on the top level and half full on the bottom level why the other sushi rolls took so long? we're asking for the check. the check takes 20 minutes! to come to us. When it comes to, we see the only evidence that we order the Shijitake potters and it is on our bill. we point out, and the waitress immediately brings back the corrected deck, we immediately give her our card. then it took 15 minutes to sign our credit card with the bill. I mention all these specialties, because this was completely terrible. total time in restaurant: 1 hour 50 minutes. lunch: 15 minutes. I never left a tip. I pay the whole bill, as honga is great again. for the runner who tried her best and the kitchen staff: we would have given you a tip, but our waitress did not do that. Word of advice: if they get the waitress with red hair and they don't drink alcohol, just order some anyway and pour it out. this will give them the attention of their waitress and the night will go well.
"Absolutely amazing dining experience! The atmosphere was great, and the pork belly Banh Mi and Montauk sandwiches were outstanding. If I ever pass through this area again, I will definitely be back!"
We spent Christmas Eve at Chipeta Resort and were in search of a steak dinner. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any restaurants that were open, so we decided to go to Lotus Root.
