What started off great quickly went downhill. Service is terrible. It is super slow and most of the time there is no employee to be found in the restaurant especially when eating. No one to ask if you need a refill on water, or to simply check in on you. When you want your check you have to get up and go ring a bell for someone to come out to you. If you want a box, same thing. Chips and salsa are included but you usually have to ask for it yourself if you remember to do so. They had other employees for a short time but not anymore. Some days they have closed without notice too. It sucked to drive all the way there and find it closed, which was a bummer. I recently had a bad experience where one of my food items (pupusa) had bad cheese. It smelled and tasted horrible, as if the cheese was rotten. I took one bite, swallowed and instantly wanted to throw up. This took me as surprise since the other pupusas tasted good. I nicely told the owner about it, even trying to keep my voice low so other customers couldn't hear. I asked him if I could have another item in its place to go since my stomach was hurting and I couldn't stomach to eat anything else. Again I have been a loyal customer so I thought it was a simple fluke and problem solved. Not even 5 minutes later the owner comes out and sarcastically asks my mom and son how their food tastes and then tells me that all the food was made with the same cheese. (This was absolutely not true). I told him if he didn't believe me to take a whiff of the item (pupusa) I ordered. My mom even tried some and said it tasted and smelled rancid. I get it things happen. What happened next was surprising though. He argued with me and basically told me I was lying. I told him to just take it off my check then. Went to pay, was met with cold attitude and I decided to leave 0 tip for how I was treated. Having worked in the restaurant industry I was always told the customer is always right. I learned we never argue with customers (simple professional practice) and that if something tastes bad just change it and move on. No arguing needed. However, I've never had cheese in my food like this before. I loved their pupusas and always ordered the same thing. I never had issues like this before. I've also had meat that was burned to a crisp and all fat and other foods that were over cooked. Thankfully that was rectified the next time I went and they made it better. To say they need to work on professionalism is an understatement. I was so excited to finally have pupusas in Folsom and my son loved going here. He would always ask. We literally came once a week. Sadly we will not be returning.
The food is great and so is the atmosphere inside. Lighting is good thanks to the huge windows. The ladies worked great on making sure they got my order correctly and I didn’t have to wait that long for it to be ready! Will be coming back for sure.
My fourth time there. Ordered chili verde burrito wet. First of all there is no gravy over the burrito but a vinegary tomatillo sauce around it and 12 wide strips of sour cream across the burrito. I had a couple of bites and the meat was dark brown and dry. Called the manager over and he told me that is how they make them. I said this is not what we have had 3 times before with carnitas and this sauce . Never a tomatillo sauce. After 3rounds he still insists so I gave up. Why order a chili verde burrito if it's going to be carnitas. Sorry, customer is alway right or at least upset so you pacify them, not argue. I won't go back.
My husband and I found our new favorite Mexican in Folsom! The burritos and street tacos have the best flavor. The guacamole and chips were so fresh. Service was amazing with one person on a Sunday late afternoon. We ended the meal with Churros. Highly suggest checking this place out! We were beyond impressed!
Delicious food! I had the taco plate with asada for the meat. My husband had the chimichanga with carnitas. Very friendly service. We sat outside because our pup was with us. So yummy!!! We will be back!
