Do David - Rio de Janeiro Brasil

Michelin star level favela style eatery. I could not believe my taste buds and eyes! I wish I had guts to go to the favela location (the original) but copa cabana location was exceptional too! Best food I have had in 2 weeks in Brazil!

I was a bit nervous about venturing into a favela (chalk it up to being mentally stuck in the era of City of God , but when a carioca casually asked if I 'd seen the view from Babilonia yet, I realized my perception of the favelas was probably not accurate. I 'm glad my misconception was corrected, because Bar do David was 101% worth the trip it *doesn 't* have a view, but we did have one of the best meals of our trip. Our favorite was the ribs with pineapple salsa, which were perfectly charred and fell off the bone. We also had a completely beautiful seafood salad and some croquettes with carne seca, plus a couple very tasty drinks. I can 't recommend it enough!

The presentation of the food is gourmet level. The flavor of the food is fresh. David was our server, and he couldn't be kinder or more attentive. Had an excellent experience, would definitely come back. We tried all their dishes that won awards--they were well-deserved.

Hubby and I were visiting Rio de Janeiro for the first time- celebrating 25 years of marital bliss, and stumbled across this restaurant through some wonderful reviews on yelp. Let me tell you, each dish we had was delicious and show cased local flavors that had our mouths singing. Mhmmmmm! Extra treat we got to meet the owner and his daughter, they were both very gracious and took care of us. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Best meal of our S American tour so far!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND searching this one out. We tried all of the award winning dishes and understand why!
