If you come/go to Tap and Taco just before sunset and sit outside, you get a great view of the Sandia Mountain.I like that has a good beer selection, my wife likes the Mangonada mix drink. We now come here once or twice a month for Tacos and the Quesadillas. They have added the Nachos and they are great. I can say now that the food is pretty good. Beer and Tacos it's all good. I say now, this place has Great Tacos, quesadillas and the Nachos (love that cheese).Ps. Usually full and hard to get table and when you do, needs to be clean, other than that, its great.
Bland. Is the nicest and best way to describe the food. I ordered a taco de asada, a taco de al pastor and a quesadilla of asada with sausage and none of the meat had any flavor. No seasoning, the meat had zero flavor all I could taste is the tortilla and on the quesadilla all I could taste was the sausage. The salsa guacamole was also so watered down and had zero flavor. The food was definitely over hyped and was not worth the 30 minute drive to the edge of Rio rancho. The service was great can’t complain there and the vibe wasn’t bad but overhyped foodIn response to the ownerI didn’t make the review to insult you or your restaurant. I can see you’re not a doctor or an owner that can take constructive criticism. Instead of insulting and taking every negative review offensively you should try and take some of the information from them and use it to improve your taste of food. Don’t worry you won’t see me or my business again, I can get a better taco of al pastor where they cook the pineapple with the meat and not garnish a hot taco with a cold pineapple sauce just about anywhere else.Response to 2nd response once the first one was deleted (screen shot attached)Remember everything you post on the internet stays on the internet. Keep that same energy.
First of all, this should be two reviews of Tap Taco. One for the taco part, one for the tap part. So let's start with the good part, the taco part. But I almost never get tacos at Tap Taco only because the baked potatoes are epic. Large, fluffy baked potatoes swimming in butter with freshly prepared meats and cheese on top. I was thinking about these for some time on a recent trip and came home and had to have one. That potato totally doesn't disappoint I love it! There are plenty of salsas and other toppings on a self serve station and the staff behind the taco line are friendly, quick and do a good job. Now I want another one. Then there's the bar. On the good side there are a number of local brews on tap so you really do get something for everyone who's a beer drinker. Lots of good choices. Once you've gotten the staff's attention and that's where the rust meets the metal.Getting the staff behind the bar to make eye contact is it's own episode of frustration. There are plenty of people back there, but it just feels like serving you isn't their first priority. In fact I've been several times because of those potatoes and, every time, the staff behind the bar seem very preoccupied.I used to give customer service lessons and NObody likes to feel like they're ignored. Come on, it's a basic customer service 101 kind of thing. Just do what the fast, efficient and friendly folks behind the Taco side of this business do and you'll get more stars. So five stars for the taco side of this place, two for the service of the bar staff.
I was asked for more info about my review. Well, I find the food good but I don’t like being ignored at the bar when I was standing there to get a beer. There were 3 people behind the bar, 2 of whom weren’t doing much, but no one made eye contact or acknowledged me until someone finally came to take my order. One person walked out from behind the bar, passing inches from me and still did not look at me. (FYI, I’ve waited tables and I’ve tended bar; this would have been okay by me if they were busy. Initially I dismissed it, as it was my first time there, but the other 2 couples we were with told me that has been their experience on previous visits and was the same on this visit. So, food good, bar bad.
I've heard so many things about this place, I guess it was just more hype. The tacos were only ok. Nothing special. Inside was fairly loud, especially bar area, so we sat in restaurant area. I guess if you don't get out much and try all sorts of restaurants, this place might seem good. They just needed more flavor. Fairly bland. Too each their own .
