They have a few options at retro taco when they are vegan. they have some jackfruit tacos that are strictly vegan, and they also have some deep roasted avocado tacos that they call woodstock. with the woodstock tacos they must leave the chili-lime aioli because it is not vegan, but they have salsas for extra taste. they also have a good choice of craft beer. the only disadvantage was that I ordered their guacamole and chips because the server said that their guacamole was great and vegan. when it appeared, it could have blown on it. with that said the owners reach me on social media and wanted it with free guacamole (less cheese) and chips when I come.
I found the vegan tacos to be quite disappointing. I spent $22 on two very small and unsatisfying tacos that didn't even have a protein source, along with a glass of beer. Overall, I felt it was not worth the cost and I do not plan on coming back to this restaurant.
If you're vegan, Retro Taco offers a couple of options for you. They have strictly vegan jackfruit tacos, as well as deep fried avocado tacos called Woodstock. For the Woodstock tacos, you'll need to skip the chili-lime aioli as it's not vegan, but they have salsas for extra flavor. Additionally, they have a nice selection of craft beers. The only downside was when I ordered their guacamole with chips, expecting it to be vegan, but it had cheese sprinkled on top. However, the owners reached out to me on social media to make it right by offering free guacamole with less cheese next time I visit.
I visited the art museum and decided to try their carne asada tacos. The server was very friendly, but unfortunately, the carne asada was dry and lacked flavor. Even the corn was bland. If you're looking for authentic TJ-style tacos, this restaurant is not it. While some people may enjoy it, I was ultimately disappointed. The location is great with plenty of space. However, there is room for improvement as the tacos were missing avocado.
