Overall not impressed at all with this place. I speculate the reviews are only this good because of the very small and tight knit community that goes here. As for me and my wife it was the worst mexican food we’ve ever had, the service was subpar, our waitress was rude, and the chips tasted like dish soap. Save your money, there’s a chipotle 1.5 miles down the road. ?

The only reason I am even giving one star is due to previous service and food . I was very precise when explaining I don’t want shredded beef when getting my meal . I wanted steak . I got shredded beef . I don’t eat nor did I order shredded beef. My order was disregarded like it didn’t matter. It’s my money and I should be able to order what I want and how I want it. My husband ordered chicken and got steak . Hello . What is wrong with this situation here? I have no desire to go back to a place that don’t appreciate my patronage or respect my order. I really hate this . The only Mexican restaurant I have found within a 75 mile radius is El Ranchero in Emporia Va where the food and the service is great

The food, is always fresh and delicious! Maritza, our server, is always on point, very friendly, great service, and extremely customer oriented! Dennis always greets us, and is a joy to see! I highly recommend El Tenampa, in Roanoke Rapids, if you want great Mexican food.

The food was really good. First and only time here. Very happy with the menu selection.
