The bun vermicelli dishes are fantastic, and their fresh spring rolls are the best around. Plus, the Chinese hot and sour soup has a perfect balance of sweet and sour flavors.
If you have some time to relax and enjoy, I highly recommend stopping by this place. The two senior owners manage everything on their own, and you can really feel the passion they put into their work. The pho was absolutely delicious, and the hot and sour soup was great as well. The tom yum appeared to be made from a spice mix. We also tried the curry chicken, which was tasty, but I think the standout dish was definitely the bun.
Rating: 3.5 stars. I have a nice impression of the family running this restaurant and genuinely hope they succeed. However, the service is quite slow, so it’s best to visit when you’re not in a rush. The restaurant is large and has a vibe reminiscent of some of the more run-down Vietnamese spots in Seattle. I sampled a pho dish and com bi suon trung (rice with dried shredded pork, pork chop, and egg). It's important to note that this is a Chinese-Vietnamese eatery. While everything was decent, it didn't quite meet my expectations. For instance, I anticipated that the rice dish would feature broken rice along with pickled radish, carrots, and lettuce, but it was just rice and protein. The fish sauce was very strong and salty but quite flavorful. As for the pho, it was tasty, but the broth had a slightly different taste compared to traditional versions. On the plus side, it was rich and fatty, indicating that it was made from bones and real meat rather than just MSG. The prices are reasonable. Overall, I might try a few other places in the area before returning here.
Dac Hoa is simply a hidden gem. They have what I think is the best Pho in Rochester. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, and great prices. My other favorite menu item is the Bun, Vietnamese rice vermicelli salad, with various toppings. My last visit was Saturday, and I had the Bun with roasted pork and a pork spring roll. It was absolutely delicious. I really want to try more menu items next time! Also, if you like Chinese-style roast meats, this is the place to go! Definitely the best roast Duck and Pork in Rochester, to the point that it reminds me of the delicious food I had in Hong Kong. Possibly the best part of going is the owners. She remembers us every time we go, even if its been months since our last visit. She is attentive, kind and caring...she always makes you feel welcome, and is like having another grandmother. Overall, I highly recommend Dac Hoa. They have take-out and dine-in available. You will not be disappointed!
Continues to be the best in ROC, but, be patient ... owner was working front and back of the house, sadly I watched a person come in, after 3 minutes of waiting they left, I should have given them a menu and told them to chill.
