Kabin Kruser's Oyster - Rochester

My husband and I have visited this restaurant a few times and the food has always been good. However, during our most recent visit, we were served cold food and were told that the cooks are not as skilled at this time of day. We had ordered coleslaw, which they had not prepared yet, so our food was left sitting there while they attempted to make it. The waitress explained that she was new and I advised her to always bring out the food while it is hot. The fish tasted overcooked and was not edible, and when the waitress noticed I was packing up my meal, she offered to get a manager. I declined and informed her that I would not be returning. The overall rating for the service was 3, the atmosphere was a 5, and the meal was not worth the price range of $50-100 per person.

It's sad to say but the preparation of the food has gone down hill. Sour burger, Slimy peel and eat shrimp, undercooked scallops, stuffed mushrooms seemed microwaved and the stuffing had chunks of raw green pepper and the sauce was separated and not creamy. This restaurant has the best clam chowder I've ever tasted! The servers and staff are also wonderful. They take the time to hand wash and dry each glass before serving. The oysters and fish tacos are also excellent. The service, atmosphere, and food all receive a perfect score of 5. I highly recommend trying the Oysters on the Half Shell, Fish Taco, and James Beard Clam Chowder with Sweet Cream, Garden Potatoes, Bacon, and East Coast Clams. The average price per person for dinner is $20–30.

This restaurant is always bustling with customers. The staff is excellent, knowledgeable about their products, and always ready to discuss the menu. I love going for the oysters and a glass of champagne to go with them. Karen the bartender is exceptional! I always prefer sitting at the bar. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
