My man and I had an dinner reservation 1 1/2 hours before the rpo pops holiday concert. the place was busy as expected. must have been a personal shortage because it took 15 minutes until a server appears, 5 more minutes to get us a wine list (which the host has not provided) and another 10 minutes to get our wein after we have ordered it. eating was simply ok overbid hamburger and skalopps who needed something to balance their riches. we were sitting inside what was loud. the server was nice, but I think she had too many tables to serve, so the bad service rating. everything I can say is that we miss tante Rosie’s” and we will not return to Max’s location
Terrible frozen foods that were obviously not fresh. they played all two songs with advertising spots. 6/6 people had excessively salted foods that had to be sent back.
We went to max’s as part of a special jubilee evening, with plans for the rpo afterwards. the staff there was friendly and personal. we do not often go out, so we are not as savvy as others in French cuisine, but our waitress was super helpful for us to understand what some of the menu options were. the food itself was great, the atmosphere was cozy and entertaining, everyone was just wonderful.
Max at Eastman Place has usually been a go-to for fine dining especially with its location near the Eastman Theater. The main dining room appears to have been renovated recently from an urban contemporary look to a bland traditional atmosphere. The service was fine with our competent server assisted by other staff for food deliveries. Although the dining room was full the kitchen put out the food with good timing. The meals the four of us ordered were generally okay but not of the same caliber from past experiences here. Getting the checks processed in a timely manner was an ordeal due to computer complications so we were told. Splitting checks for 2/2 was done as requested as well as splitting a gift card though an item was incorrectly included on the wrong bill. A second bill was processed on the same credit card. Though quickly credited with the bank the corrected amount eliminated the server tip as that had been applied to the bill initially presented and signed. Ironically the gift card applied to this meal was given by Max management as compensation for a previous less than good dining experience. We have yet another gift card from friends who recall good Max experiences but it may be a while before it is used.
