For the first time in our lives we decided to have a meal at a Shingle Inn. Having a browse around the shops at Rockingham, this outlet made it to our radar. I had the ‘Gourmet’ Steak Sandwich and the wife had a BLT. Both...were totally underwhelming and I have to agree with another review here that the steak was tasteless and pathetic. It was probably the worst meal we have had from any fast food outlet ever. Would not recommend or visit another Shingle Inn if this is representative of the offerings available. Lift your game. It is not difficult to provide tasty food. Tasty food and good service equals bums on seats. Too many providers whining about not being able to make money need to have a good hard look at their operations and maybe they will find a big part of their problem.
After bad reviews we were hesitant to try this place but as we were only having coffee and cakes decided to give it a go. Good coffee and good cakes.
My hubby and I had a late breakfast at the Shingle Inn Rockingham today. The only positive is the speed the hot drinks came out. We both ordered the Classic Ommlette which was described as light and fluffy and in my mind should have some...yellow egg colour. We waited for about mins for our food which, when it arrived, did NOT resemble an Ommlette in shape or colour. It was a sloppy grey mess. I thought maybe it was due to the mushrooms which were in the Ommlette so gave it a go. It was tasteless except for an overwhelming sweetness (waitress told me it was due to caramelised onions but I know what they taste like and it wasn't sweet due to the onions). I voiced my displeasure at the quality of the food and had left most on my plate however the response was to speak to Head Office as this is how it comes. The waitress (not sure if she is the manager) offered an apology but that was it. for slop on a plate. Not impressed and it has left me never wanting to eat at a Shingle Inn again although I know they are franchises. If you decide to eat there stay away from the Classic Ommlette.
Met up with my wife who was waiting for me to go shopping. My wife had a coffee already so I ordered one as she had only just received her order. only customers in the place and all already served. Not sure why but...it it took ages to get a skinny cappuccino. My wife had finished hers and we waited for mine. It was not worth the wait. Over filled with less froth than a flat white and no Creama. Not sure what they did to it but the coffee was not nice to drink. I would say by the temperature that they overheated the milk. Maybe there head unit needed a clean? Not enjoyable at all.
