What a fun space! The menu at Cafe Miranda is huge and varied with everything lumped together, and vegan and vegetarian options are not clearly noted. When I asked the server about vegan options, she wasn't sure because she was new, and said to pick anything that could be veganized. She did know that the bread and white bean soup is vegan, and the kitchen could happily accommodate requests. We settled on the hummus- with bread, white bean soup- with bread, and the house salad. Everything was very filling and satisfying, with lots of greens in the soup and tomato in the hummus . As other reviewers have noted the bread was the best part, while the soup and hummus was pretty bland but hearty. The salad was the most tasty, with a simple lemon-oil-garlic dressing. The cafe carries an excellent vibe, and it was a treat to dine outside on a pretty summer day. On the way out I was told that the chef is vegan. I think vegetarians would probably rate 4 stars for options, while 3 stars fit best for our vegan experience.
We've tried this restaurant a few times and tried most of what they can make vegan. We love their fries and pizza. The other options are a bit bland. Their bread is AMAZING! Service is always good.
Though they do have a number of items on their menu that can be made vegan, I was disappointed that their falafel is not. That's sort of a vegan staple. The server helped me find something else. The peanut noodles were ok, but a little bland. The food took longer than expected, and the service was so-so.
As someone local to the area, I highly recommend Cafe Miranda. Its enormous menu provides the largest selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes in town by far. Brunch for vegetarians is fantastic with several different benedicts (sweet potato and portobello hash, breaded tomato, etc) served with either polenta or house-made focaccia points. Vegan brunch would probably be the most limited meal, but the lunch menu is available at the same time with more options. Also, ask the kitchen if they could scramble tofu or have another idea...I never have, being vegetarian, but they are creative and made-to-order so might have something great waiting upon request. Homemade pizzas are so tasty with roasted mushrooms, greens, fried eggplant, etc. The myriad of appetizers are some of the strongest dishes and we often get two per person instead of an entree when coming for dinner. A vegan East Asian inspired fried cauliflower is one of my favorites, as well as the classic fire-roasted greens, squash and mushrooms with rustic cheese and balsamic drizzles. Pierogis and other house-made pastas are so scrumptious, along with the oven roasted polenta with mushrooms, greens, ricotta and marinara. A lot comes out of their brick wood-fired oven which you can see from the dining area. The space is pretty small so reservations are often needed, especially in summer and on weekends. Also the decibel level can get up there in the close, funky space. It 's certainly not a quiet atmosphere, but the Elvis themed bathroom and Hippies Use Side Door sign are classic features in town. It 's hard not to find something scrumptious for everyone on their expansive, made-from-scratch menu!
