With her black hair and mature demeanor, her attitude negatively affected my meal. My tzatziki turned sour, the rice was unappetizingly stiff, the falafel became dry, the soup was overly salty, and the pita was stale. Given this standard of service, I won’t be returning.
Delicious food with generous portions! I highly recommend trying the Gyro with salad.
Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed and invited to sit wherever we liked. Our server kindly suggested a larger table since we had our laptops with us, anticipating that it might be a working lunch. They brought us a round of water and a small glass of the house red wine—perfect for me since Greek wine doesn’t give me headaches. We kicked off the meal with hummus, which you definitely don’t need to ask about. I must tell you, it was perfectly smooth and blended with just the right ingredients, garnished with cucumbers, tomatoes, and a generous sprinkle of smoked paprika. It came with enough pita to serve three people, so there was no need to order more—and I could easily drink that tzatziki! For my main course, I opted for moussaka, which I had never tried before. It featured layers of eggplant, potatoes, and ground meat, topped with a bechamel sauce, and was served with peas and a generous Greek salad. The salad was enormous and easily shareable, so keep that in mind when ordering. You might consider selecting a different side and splitting the salad if you wish. I’m a big fan of eggplant, and the moussaka was fantastic! I will mention, though, that I’m not particularly fond of the bechamel on top; in my opinion, it’s unnecessary, but it does add richness and visual appeal to the dish. We also tried the shrimp kabobs, which are perfect for shrimp lovers. The shrimp were juicy with a pleasant smoky flavor and a hint of lemon. The rice complemented it wonderfully, and the vegetables retained a nice crispness. I had expected the shrimp to be served on skewers, but they were just as tasty nonetheless. I didn’t have room for dessert, but the baklava looked amazing, and I wish I had gotten a slice to take home! This meal was a delightful trip down memory lane for me. I truly fell in love with Greek cuisine during my time in Greece, and I hope to visit the country many more times in this lifetime and the next! So if you’re in Long Island, specifically Rockville Centre, make sure to check out Greek Town Authentic Greek Kitchen. The food is outstanding, the service is quick and attentive, and the prices are reasonable for any budget. And be sure to let them know the Unnerved Traveler sent you! Enjoy!
