Hygiene should be an essential part of running a business. When I come into a place to get foodor drinks that have to go through someone else?s hands I like to think that cleanliness should be Important. The other girlalways makes my coffee perfect, and luckily her customer service makes up for the rest. Also they are usually out of a lot ofthings.
Daylight donuts has been around here for a few years and I have to say it's a great place to go get donuts! I just love their varying flavors.
Now, for the downsides. The biggest issue was the iced coffee. I understand it’s a small town with only a couple of other local coffee shops, but that doesn’t excuse the way it was prepared. When I order an iced coffee, I expect more than a cup filled with ice and hot coffee poured on top. This results in watered-down, lukewarm coffee that bears little resemblance to what I ordered. Additionally, the Boston Cream doughnuts were disappointing. They were so unappetizing that I ended up throwing the rest away. I had a couple because they are my favorite, but both were just off; the chocolate tasted weird, and the filling was lacking—plus, the dough was too bland and doughy. Lastly, the Oreo cake doughnut felt a bit heavy for my taste. It didn’t resemble an Oreo at all. I’d call it a chocolate cake doughnut with cookie crumbles instead. While it was okay, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. In summary, this review is quite confusing due to the range of experiences with the doughnuts.
The employee mentioned in the negative review is someone I know through our volunteer work together. Although my acquaintance with him is brief, I believe the criticism was unwarranted, as it lacked specific complaints about his hygiene and cleanliness, which I can personally attest is quite acceptable. In order to counteract misinformation, I want to share my positive observations: the two front-line staff members are consistently friendly and helpful, even when they seem to be juggling multiple tasks, such as operating the register and baking. They wear gloves while handling food and drinks, are appropriately dressed and groomed, and truly embody the charming mom-and-pop atmosphere that small businesses like this one are known for. While I do think they could benefit from additional help in the baking department to meet demand, or perhaps start their baking a bit earlier (though I’m unsure if that would be feasible, as I don’t know when their day begins), I appreciate their efforts. The variety of treats they offer includes all the classic favorites like chocolate icing, chocolate with sprinkles, glazed, and powdered donuts. Additionally, their eclairs, cinnamon buns, and fritters are great options for those who might not be donut fans. The locally sourced coffee served here is quite good on its own and doesn’t require much alteration. Overall, I want to commend this small-town business for their hard work and resilience in providing quality products and service.
If you don't arrive right when the restaurant opens, you might find that your options are limited. The hours aren't very convenient for customers. I asked an employee about the local favorites twice, but she just responded with "What would you like?" without actually answering my questions. This place really needs to continue making donuts throughout the day.
