You may make reservations for this restaurant. I advise this. When we arrived, there was a mix up with our reservation. While we waited, they gave us champagne and profusely apologized. We sat outside and prepped for our people watching and culinary experience with great bottles of white wine. The waiters were charming and fun. We picked this place because the ingredients are local and fresh. They are an establishment located in a touristy spot but have maintained their culinary integrity. The food was delicious. Calamari, Beef, Spaghetti Bolognese, Lamb and my favorite Spaghetti Aglio e Olio. Warning: Spaghetti Aglio e Olio is very spicy. In the states, it has a little heat. At Vacanze Romane it comes with a lot of heat. 5 of us had 3 bottles of wine, appetizers, entree's and split a dessert. Total cost was about $250.00 American dollars.
It's located right by Piazza Navona, so you get a great view while sitting outside enjoying your meal. The food was just so-so in my opinion. We ordered a pizza and a pasta dish, which by the way, they messed up on because they brought us a different dish from what we ordered. When we informed our server that that was not what we ordered, he offered to give us another dish more pricey for no extra charge. Well, he did charge us for that more expensive entree he suggested to us. Thought that was a bit shady. But whatever, we just chalked it as an extra charge for having such an awesome view. Otherwise, the service was good, but our server reminding me that tip was not included in our check was a bit off putting. I noticed he did that with another Japanese couple that was sitting next to us. So beware of that. 3.5 stars
Located just outside piazza Navona, you can enjoy the crowds while enjoying a personal pizza all by yourself. I got the pizza margarita. It was juicy fresh tomato base sauce with a very thin crust. I could finish the entire pizza since the waiter challenged me I could. Proved right. Definitely visit here for the views and food!
I would've given this place 4 stars if the following didn't happen. We had enjoyed our meal and our waiter was friendly but then another guy came out with our bill and literally stood over us as we were paying. Looking over the bill I noticed they already included a service fee and he chimes in stating that that wasn't a tip so we need to add a tip and kept persisting on adding a tip and wouldn't leave. At this point we were annoyed about how rude he is so we throw in a couple euros and he takes it and walks away scoffing at us. It left a very unpleasant taste and I would never come back.
Pretty average. Located in a tourist spot so you're going to get what you expect in the area. At least you're seated by the Piazza Navona. Service was a bit below average.
