Not sure how Rockton/Roscoe got so lucky to have a place like this so close to home.Staff: Just incredible. knowledgeable, check; courteous, check; keeps high-end offerings feeling approachable, check; knows how to be professional but familiar and welcoming, check.Food: Honestly? There aren't words. I do not understand how we got so lucky. (Chef: thank you, a million times.)Location: We're biased because we live close--it's incredible. So lucky to have this practically in our back yards. This is our #1 go-to these days.Atmosphere: phenomenal and dreamy, unlike anything in the area.Drinks: SO lovely. If I had one wish, it would be more of a bar selection (i.e., craft cocktails beyond a manhattan). As a previous craft cocktail lounge owner, I understand the hassle (and Hidden Creek is already doing extensive quality work in the F&B especially for their size), but it would be nice to grab something as simple as a quality G&T for those of us who can't do whisky, wine, or beer. All of this to say: if you haven't experienced Hidden Creek yet, it's a real shame, and your life would be more enriched having gone. For the decades spent in the Ro/Ro area, I never imagined we'd have a place like Hidden Creek. I'd argue it's the best food and bev place you can find even in the greater Rockford/Beloit area (and, it's like, by FAR the best). Thanks for all you do, Hidden Creek team! You've made our lives and move back to Roscoe unimaginably better than it already was!!
First time diner! Went with friends who had never been there either. I had heard good things about Hidden Creek before, but only as a wedding venue..We decided to go during Rickford restaurant week never knowing that they did food and ran the venue as a restaurant during the week!! What a good time with great service, good/different food different in that the menu for main courses are set each week , large beverage and snacks appetizer/cheese/charcuterie boards, etc that can be ordered in addition to or by themselves while enjoying a beverage or sharing a bottle of wine!. Two of us had the pork tenderloin from the prefixed menu served on creamy mashed potatoes..a other ordered the Spinach Kale Risotto as our main course. We ordered a cheese board as an appetizer a charcuterie board came to the table, we accepted it and they added the items from the cheese board to the one we received and adjusted pricing to correct the error... delicious! The 3 of us ordered the Miso Onion cheese bread it was so creamy with Guyerre cheese and onion fondue flowing like lava when cut into and the Torta Capressa Blanca wonderful almond flavored torte with white chocolate for dessert .The interior of the venue is unique. It is an intimate setting in an over 100 year large, old farmhouse with tin ceilings, wooden and brick floor, fireplace. You are seated in what is, I would guess was the former sitting room, livingroom, dining room at one time small Bar area is also part of this room . Seating during winter can also be in one of several outdoor lighted/heated igloos which are reached from an arched lighted path. Music is heard both outside and indoors. The venue has live music in summer on the grounds. The only criticism I would have is that because of all the hard surfaces, and the fact the restaurant was full that evening, it was difficult to hear... each other across the table and with the wait staff... it 's something the 3 of us have experienced in other places with hard surface and in busy smaller venues. Also the gravel parking lot needs some work. I hope will be paved and marked this spring was thawing snow with small potholes and needs some better lighting.Definitely will return!!
The drinks, the food, the service, and the ambience are always on point. If you’re looking for an amazing, fine dining caliber, but casual experience this is the place you’ve been looking for!
If I could give Hidden Creek Estates 6 stars I would! My fiancé and I popped in here for a drink and my goodness! The place is stunning and the ambience is unmatched. I cannot wait to return.
It’s exactly what the little town of Roscoe needed! A friendly stunning atmosphere. You get high quality service and food while not having to feel like you have to come all dressed up.
