The Southern Cafe - Roselle

Everything at the Southern Cafe is fantastic! You really can’t make a bad choice here. I’ve never had a disappointing meal. This visit was especially enjoyable thanks to our wonderful server, who was attentive and very helpful. Although the place is typically busy, they manage to seat you quickly. It’s definitely worth a brief wait. Believe me! I highly recommend it!

I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs, along with pancakes, and it was quite good. However, our server seemed a bit overwhelmed. We were a group of five adults, one preteen, and two toddlers, and it felt like she left us waiting for too long, resulting in a growing list of requests for her when she returned. The silver lining is that she managed to fulfill all of our needs when she came back. Overall, I will be back for sure. Just a heads-up about parking: if it’s busy, you might have to park on the grass if there's any space available.

As for the food, it lives up to its reputation for being delicious and flavorful. Portions are generous and easily shareable between two or even three people, depending on your order. We typically opt for the omelet or Eggs Benedict with grits, accompanied by a side of pancakes. We usually get a stack of two, which are quite thick. They can be tricky to cook—easily over or under done—but ours were cooked perfectly. The kids' meals come with one or two eggs, silver dollar pancakes, and a choice of sausage links or bacon. I do have a couple of minor notes: my wife requested a regular latte, but they only offered a vanilla-flavored option, which was disappointing. Plus, for the pancakes, I simply wanted regular syrup, but they only had maple or sugar-free varieties. It’s a little odd! Also, their coffee mugs are quite thick, which is something I noticed. Overall, there’s nothing that would prevent me from returning. The prices are reasonable, and there’s a wide variety of food options.

The service was great! The restaurant was packed. The menu is a bit overwhelming; however, grits are the way to go with any dish! Prices are reasonable, and the portions are huge!

Recently I went with a friend/daughter She had a beef biscuit sandwich with white eggs. I had an biscuit stuffed with sausage and vegetables. And upgrade the pancakes which we share with three people, was plenty of food. My only suggestion is the menu , very complicated to understand, maybe pictures will be helpful. Tina the server was very friendly and attentive. The regular coffee A+. But my experience was excellent. The parking is small but the hospitality was big.
