Very pleasant and nicely presented it was too. Staff were (I think somewhat inexperienced but very keen to do the right thing and there were no mistakes. It must be said that the dining room is rather cramped and the walls are painted dark red, which makes the whole room rather claustrophobic. We took coffee after the meal in the sitting room adjacent. A little biscotti or even a petit four with the coffee would have been a nice touch but was not offered. We enjoyed the visit. £100 two courses for two people, plus bottle of wine and two coffees. That includes a 10% service charge added to the bill. Don'tthey know it's 2023? Just increase the prices by 10% and omit the service charge it just rubs people up the wrong way. (Some people will then add their voluntary tip on top anyway.
Booked a table for two ,for an anniversary dinner with my wife ,,,four days in advance, We arrived about twenty minutes before the the booking time, to have a drink before dinner. I knocked on the door and walked around both sides of the hotel and could not find anyone to let us in . We waited a few more minutes in the car and tried again without success. We had to book another restaurant at short notice. Very annoyed as this was a special occasion and after two text messages from this hotel to confirm the booking they still did not provide the service that evening. After an hour we received a phone call to enquire if we were still coming to which I replied ,,NO. I would not recommend this hotel/restaurant as it spoiled our evening. Very Disappointed
Not a good experience , meal was cold, didn’t get what I asked for , also when asking for lemon for my g&t I felt guilty , people a different table where complaining about cold food too .
Attended for our Valentine's meal. Great airy setting and not crammed with tables. Food was spot on, decent sized portions that left us satisfied without feeling uncomfortable and just enough pretentiousness to make it feel special. The staff were a true asset. Welcoming and friendly, very helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Good value for money, towards the top end of mid-range, but not quite fine dining. We'll definitely return some time. If I was to be ultra critical, the lighting wasn't great in the function room where we had our meal, it was a little on the dark side and there was a slightly annoying automatic dimming setting where the intensity of the light was constantly varying. The wife would of liked a couple more petit toasts for her pate, there were only 3 and a lot of pate... and some extra veggies with our main would of been nice, we had the duck and even putting 3 steamed baby carrots with stalks on would of totally changed it, just the cabbage and potatoes wasn't quite enough... Also, the decor was a little bland, it was nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure a little extra could of been done with it being Valentines Day to make it special without it being tacky (a rose or 2, and some hearts, a bit of red wouldn't of gone amiss etc as it could of been any other day. That being said, I am being overly critical and picky : We would like to thank all the staff for such a lovely evening and look forward to visiting again, maybe next time we'll stay the night.
I celebrated my birthday with my family at this cozy restaurant. Despite its small dining room, it comfortably seated our party of 6 along with other guests. We all had a fantastic meal and found the set priced menu to be a great value for our money, offering the choice of one, two, or three courses. I would definitely make a reservation here again.
