A few days ago, I got detoured due to an accident on my way home from work. I noticed Galati Pizza and it perked my interest. We had a party tonight and ordered the football Pizza. Everyone thought it was solid pizza. The order came right when they said it would and the delivery driver was super friendly. Will be back
Pizza was absolutely delicious!!So far, we've tried thin crust with sausage and mushroom and double dough with sausage.Sauce is on the sweeter side, mushrooms are fresh and not canned and the fresh italian sausage was plentiful atop the pizza.Thin crust...regular thin and not a cracker crust. Cut into squares.Good sauce/toppings to crust ratio. Cheese is melted over the Toppings.Double dough...this is usually how I order pizza if given the option especially if we order a lot of Toppings or if the Toppings we order would contribute any excess moisture, i.e. spinach. Our double dough was all sausage with half ricotta and spinach.Cut into slices (like deep dish or stuffed) Next time, I would request it to be cut into squares- like the thin crust.I've never had Double dough pizza Cut into slices. We ended up cutting each slice in half (lengthwise) to accommodate the number of people that we were.Would have been perfect, if, cut into squares.Taste...yummy!We also tried the beef/sausage combo sandwich.Didn't order it any special way because we wanted to see how it was normally served. We were asked if we wanted to add cheese or peppers and we chose not to.The sausage was not a regular/traditional italian sausage link. It was a homemade, hand-shaped patty the length of the bread. We actually loved it this way. It had a great sear on both sides, very tasty. Reminded me of how my grandma would make her italian sausage patties. The beef...was dry...No juice present at all. Taste was just ok.I would order it again but with 2 changed variables. Firstly, a different time of day (it was around 7:45 pm on Memorial day) and secondly...dipped or juicy. The bread was, a nice texured, italian bread with a good chew.Tasted like the Turano italian bread I used to buy.Definitely ordering pizza from here again and looking forward to trying a few more menu items.
Their pizza is sooo good! The owner makes his own sauce and uses mozzarella slices instead of the traditional shredded cheese. Support this local business.
Grew up in chicago. This is hands down the best tavern style thin crust anywhere close to the area. Been our number one stop for close to 20 years. Hard to beat the 30 inch football pizza for the money as well!
