For starters , my wife and I only ate at the restaurant, so the review will not involve the rooms offered. The appearance is clean and pleasant. The corners on the ceiling were cobweb free. Which gives a hint of attention to detail and gives me a feeling that someone cares about where I want to dine and where they work. Second the restrooms where clean. Again this is in my eyes is attention to detail. Sometimes I feel if the restrooms are taken care of then hopefully the kitchen as well. It's all part of my experience while being a guest. The menu is a crossover of Bayern and Austrian specialties, which work and are not overwhelming. Well thought out and interesting. There is something for everyone, from vegetarians to meat eaters.If you do not speak German, you might have a challenging time figuring out what is on the menu, but knowing that Ruhpolding is a vacation hotspot, I think someone can speak a bit of English and could explain some of the menu items. The menu is setup in some of the Bayern and Austrian dialect, which keeps the authenticity. I even learned a few new words. Service: Very nice and knowledgeable of what goes on in the kitchen. I even mixed two menu items which was not a problem. I was even warned that maybe the taste might not fit, but my wishes where respected, even without checking with the cook first. I took the fish from one menu item and added it to an appetizer as my meal. It was very good and worked for me. The waiter even suggested a wine to round off the meal.We did not wait long for our meal, but after speaking with the waiter, he explained that in the summer when then garten is open ad full, you could wait for 30 to 45 minutes for your food. But in my opinion, this is not always a bad thing. They do make everything fresh from scratch as it is ordered. I would suggest calling ahead for a table. We had no problem getting a table without a reservation, but we are visiting Ruhpolding in between winter and summer seasons. Food:In my opinion, excellent quality. Well prepared and as mentioned above fresh. The tomato soup was fantastic. Again if the restaurant is full, expect to wait for your order, but it is worth the wait. Top! Price:I found the prices to be very fair for the quality of the kitchen and the service. The restaurant can be reached by foot. It takes around 10 minutes from the center of Ruhpolding and is a nice walk and you should take time to enjoy the beautiful mountain view and river your should encounter on your route. Park places are limited. So much for the positive side, what about the negatives. I must admit, that we enjoyed ourselves so much, that if there were any, we overlooked them. Up to now, I have not experienced any negative points. Not to say that there are not any, we just have not experienced any during our one visit. If your in the area for a few days, give the Alte Säge a chance.

Myself and a friend,last week, visited this restaurant on no less than five occasions .All we can say is eating here five times says it all. The choice on the menu was extensive without being overwhelming, food was of great quality, service friendly, fellow customers also friendly and very reasonably priced. Each day a` special of the day` would be displayed- Monday`s pork-hind was perfect.The manager or owner , took great care and displayed to this English guy(me) a menu and conversation in English, so "thank you " for that..so miss this place... do you do take away`s to England? lol seriously, anyone in Ruhpolding, make a note of this place and visit..also I believe there is an hotel attached. visited between 11-18th Sept.

Decent Bayerishe resto - very friendly staff. Menu clearly oriented to local products and meals - well worth the visit.

We picked up the keys for our self-catering apartment at Zur alten Saege and sat in the beer garden for a drink. It's in a lovely place and was busy mid-afternoon Saturday. Lack of time prevented us from going back to sample the food but from what I saw being delivered to other customer, it looked great.

Wonderful place for a dinner in Ruhpolding very welcoming and with a delicious food.Highly recomendeed!
