We took the food back to our hotel, on inspection I decided not to eat it purely based on the look and quality of the food. The prawn puri was simply the worst starter of prawn puri I have ever ever seen. The chef should be ashamed, it was literally covered in gee, the prawns were see through and there was literally zero spice, colour or flavour to the dish. My friend had ordered the mix tandoori grill which was £12.95 it came with half shish kebab, chicken and one piece of lamb (a cube) and a naan bread the size of a quarter the size of a brow l size naan bread. My friend did eat as we had a long journey and so reluctantly finished his meal. 6 hours later he is being sick, with the runs, this continues all day and was sick over 15 times. I called the restaurant today at 2pm to advise them of what had happened and they said a manager would call me back. At 8pm no body had called. So I called at 8.30pm and explained all of this. All they said was do you have the food? Well of course we didn’t as it had been eaten, have you got a doctors note? Why would we one day after? No form of how is he? Is he ok? I don’t often write such reviews but I warn you do not bother with this place. The food is nothing short of dreadful and the way they responded to this information was nothing short of Ignorant and frankly appalling. I have taken the tome to post this as I have had to see my friend be so ill all day and if nothing else wanted to ensure they knew they may have a problem but the response was just shocking. Environment health will be contacted tomorrow so they can inspect and look into it. Please don’t be tempted to use this place.
Have been visiting the Spicey Otter for years including witb sime friends from Pakistan. The food is consistently very good, reasonably pruces and the staff wonderful. This is the best around for miles for many many miles.
The restaurant sets out dips on your table as if they are complimentary, but then charges for each one. The price per poppadum is high, a common trend nowadays. The service is slow, especially during slower hours. The food is tasty, but the portion sizes are small, so you may need to order extra sides and sundries to feel satisfied, which can add up in cost.
The food was delicious, but unfortunately, the heating was not working well and we nearly froze to death! The restaurant was completely empty except for us.
The service at this restaurant is very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. It offers good value for money, but the dessert menu could use an upgrade. Despite this, I will definitely visit again!
