Castle Sleeper Castle Inn - Rutland

We booked a table and when we arrived were promptly shown to are table we ordered our drinks then ordered our food. We both went for the Sunday roast and my wife asked for her meat to be well done. When the food arrived it was well presented the food was cooked to perfection but we did ask for some more gravy the waiter quickly sorted this out. The meat was lovely and tasty the Yorkshire pudding took up half the plate roast potatoes the parsnips and carrots were very tasty. We had 1 tiramasu and a sticky toffee pudding with custard dor afters both lovely. Along with the drinks the bill was just over £120 very good overall value

A great experience. Our party was 17 people ranging from toddlers up to grandparents for a surprise 40th birthday meal. The food we ordered off the menu was varied yet everyone loved what they ordered. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend for this type of gathering and definitely intend going back as a smaller group.

My wife and I ate there last night with our two kids and one of their friends. They had a huge table of about 20 eating and unfortunately forgot to cook one of our kids pizzas. They sorted it straightaway and offered to take that one off our bill as a gesture of goodwill. The waiter was superb. Pizzas were delicious and my wife’s ravioli off the special menu was superb, as was my spaghetti with prawns, chilli garlic. Great food at sensible prices. Not sure why they’ve introduced a Japanese menu at rather hefty prices. Doesn’t seem the right place for this.

Menu is limited if you have dietary requirements. As such I had little to no choice as to what I could order but tried to make the best of it. Unfortunately a couple of small dishes I could have were unavailable, so again I ordered what I could. The waiter mocked my choice when serving the food. Nobody thought it was funny. Sadly as we all began to eat I could hear at least two members of staff in the kitchen loudly mocking me and my food choice, laughing and being incredibly rude. As it was literally the only thing I was able to order from the menu I was already self conscious. Tip for the staff: if you are going to mock and slate your customers, be sure to do it out of earshot. I quietly left the table and went to relax outside with my drink so that the rest of the group could enjoy their meal. I was made to feel small, uncomfortable and was mocked. The rest of the group reported that the food left a lot to be desired so needless to say none of us will be returning for a variety of reasons. We actually went to another place down the road and had some delicious food and excellent service.

Fabulous fresh made pizzas, the best I’ve eaten in a very long time. Superb staff to, such a friendly place can highly recommend.
