Absolutely love this gem of a find. I highly recommend you stopping by for lunch. The staff is so friendly and the food AMAZING!
Historic rail car caboose is the cornerstone of this restaurant. Originally an ice cream parlor has morphed into a nice sandwich shop and restaurant. Decor is southern, small town eclectic. Outdoor covered seating is available. Our breakfast was delicious and the service was friendly. Fun place to have a meal in downtown Rutledge. Street parking appears to be adequate, except on big events.
Great little place for breakfast or lunch! Sandwhiches are great. Love the sourdough bread. Fresh and tasty. Double check your Rueben or Cuban order because depending on which menu you are using, you may receive something different than what you thought you ordered. Typo in some menus.
Quaint place. Is actually more than just the caboose..caboose is attached to a building/dining room. The staff are friendly but there is definitely a sense that locals are the common patrons here...I am not a local. Locals floated in and out and everyone seemed to know one another by first name. Food is good and portions are ample. The prices are low relative to city locals and chains. Dining area is pretty eclectic with various table and chair styles as well as an old time feel. I am a vegetarian so it was nice to find some fare that met my needs. It looks on out the main intersection of Rutledge...a small, two block row of shops and offices. Hard Labor Creek State Park is within 3 miles so this is a nearby eatery on the way to/from the nearby park. Recommended.
