That was it. I returned for a second visit, this time for dinner. The local patrons were welcoming, just like the cozy fire and the friendly dog. The staff was attentive but maintained a professional distance. Everything was delicious. I began with a Yorkshire blue cheese salad with pears and walnuts, followed by the crooked chicken in mushroom sauce, which was paired with the most amazing fondant potatoes and delightful wild garlic. For dessert, I enjoyed a rhubarb cheesecake served in a glass, along with a very good tea. The long journey was definitely worth it. Thank you to everyone involved!
Nestled deep within a stunning forest landscape, this wonderfully pristine pub offers an excellent dining experience featuring locally sourced products, particularly game. Despite its exceptional food, it maintains the charm of a true countryside establishment. The four ales on tap, recommended by the Good Beer Guide 2017, were all outstanding, though I would have appreciated a bit more variety in styles, as they were all pale ales. Definitely worth a visit!
A charming pub/restaurant with an extensive menu, which sets it apart from many other establishments. It offers a much better experience than typical chain restaurants!
