Big Kahuna Grill - S San Diego

For those that don’t know, this is not a physical restaurant location. This is a ghost kitchen. There are many “restaurants” at this one location. It’s like a warehouse where many different types of food are cooked. It primarily serves Doordash and other delivery services. Anyways, food looked good and had good texture but the flavor was pretty underwhelming and mild. Overall I was pretty disappointed. Go elsewhere for more authentic tasting food.

UNDERCOOKED RICE!! How? That's the majority of your dish. Yikes. It's bad. Spam masubi inedible because of the rice. Teriyaki chicken was fine. BBQ steak was really fatty. Mac salad was just ok. Mainly I don't recommend nor will be back due to the rice situation. It's bound to make people sick.

All I can say is . . . Jasmine rice????? What tha . . . ?!?! This is not the local food from Hawaii I grew up with. I am from Hawaii and have never been served Jasmine rice with local food in my life!!

Food is awful. Rice was completely undercooked and stale, fried egg was undercooked with runny whites. Kimchi fried rice tastes more like mustard and again the rice is just awful. Order was screwed up too did not get to try the char sui pork, instead they gave beef which was comically thin and over cooked. Egg rolls are decent but a bit under filled. Mac salad is just ok, L&L has better mac salad. Spam musubi also had terrible undercooked stale rice. Skip this place, plenty of better Hawaiian places in San Diego.

I was excited to try Big Kahuna Grill after seeing the yelp reviews. I ordered the spam musubi, garlic shrimp, and the kitchen sink. Yikes. First of all, the rice was all stale. I know times are tough, but rice is relatively cheap, and you should be able to serve your customers fresh rice. Second, the meat in the kitchen sink was nasty pieces of fat. Not edible. The green sauce on top was really good, but besides the fried egg on top, I couldn 't eat it. The shrimp was overcooked and the garlic was still raw. I can probably get better shrimp at Red Lobster. I 'm also not sure how anyone can screw up spam musubi, but when you use stale rice and a sliver of spam, that too can be done. Totally disappointed. I will give credit where it 's due and say their mac salad was pretty good, but I 'm a one and done customer after this experience.
