Catania - S San Diego

The servers must have been new. We come to Catania regularly. This time we told the server no water yet he kept refilling our glasses. We don't drink tap water. Don't waste water people don't ask for. They brought the gelato we ordered for my son and did not bring a spoon. We waited for the spoon as the gelato was melting. Finally we went to go get the spoon from them. Understandable busy evening but for the value we pay we should get the 5 star service. Gerard is the waiter we like , he was serving other tables but still came to check on us.

Waitress was horrible. Pizza focaccia is a crunchy disk that is slightly burnt and covered in rosemary and chili flakes. Waitress purposely ignored us and treated us like idiots for not ordering drinks.

There should be a noise level choice that says 'difficult to hear, ' instead of or in addition to 'energetic. ' The hostess and her team were great trying to accommodate a quieter place. Alberto, our waiter, was easy to deal with as well. It was a birthday for my wife and we thought it would be quieter, so great if you want 'energetic. ' Not if you want quiet. Good service (the busboy, Chris, was simply amazing, he was so attentive...and funny! and good food.

Made a reservation to celebrate a friend's birthday. It did not disappoint. This is the perfect place to have a great dinner and celebrate occasions. The ambiance is great and if you are a seat by the terrace, you get a great view. We ordered the squash pizza which was delicious. Simple and very tasty. For the main course, I had a pasta with duck and it was phenomenal. The portion was generous with a garlic sauce that was amazing. For desert, we had a chocolate cake that it was perfect! Not too sweet but not too dark. Also, they have a great wine selection. I highly recommend it and I will return to try other things on the menu.

Dining at Catania was a wonderful experience. I dined solo and was given the choice of a table, the bar or an outdoor area with a view of the sea. I chose the view! The Hugo Spritz and arancini was a great way to start, and the Duck Sugo Orecchiette was a fantastic entree. I'm thinking of going back again, and I just dined there yesterday!
