The hotel was awesome. The location was a surprise to me. I remember San Diego being beautiful. It smelled like pee on the streets and in the parking structure.
The front desk staff were friendly, and the room seemed clean but the wallpaper was peeling and there were poorly patched places on the walls. There was also a huge stain on the ceiling. The remote control for the TV was missing so I had to call and get one. The quality has certainly declined. I had a room that faced the convention center and the street noise was loud, including train horns blowing at 10:30pm. I visited during Comic-con and at one point they restricted access to the elevators that were closest to my room. I am handicapped and needed to use those elevators, but the middle aged white male security guard on duty did not care at all. I understand it was closed for celebrities, but that shouldn 't hinder accessability for ADA. I bet those celebrities would agree.
Absolutely worst hotel in downtown. The only thing they have working for them is the location memorabilia. Fixtures in rooms falling apart, overpriced room service and minibar. I recommend the Omni hotel directly across, or the Marriott. I will not be returning and will be telling friends to stay far away from this establishment.
Location is simply amazing. I was a little disappointed with the cleaning service to be honest. Bed was always remade with fresh linens, but sometimes towels were still on the ground and areas were not cleaned like desk surfaces. Also soaps and creams not replaced when i used them up. Small details but at Hard Rock prices i expect a bit better.
