So Sushi Lounge - S San Diego

I want to give ZERO star to this place! We were awfully treated by server called Nara . She was cold, not friendly and INSULTING!!! We got the wrong order yet she did not admit that the restaurant made a mistake, no apologizing and made excuses then as she walked away from us, she was laughing. These type of people REALLY DO NOT BELONG TO CUSTOMER SERVICE RESTAURANT BUSINESS. SHE WAS SO SO RUDE!!!! We will never come back to this restaurant for sure sure. Whoever own this restaurant, be alert. She is hurting your business.

The food here is awful. I never send things back at restaurants but I had to send my karaage back because it was so dry and overcooked. They wouldn’t take it off the bill and insisted on remaking it. The server took my entire bento box back into the kitchen where it sat getting cold for twenty minutes. The replacement chicken was just as terrible. They refused to take it off the tab, claiming we had eaten half when it wasn’t even close. Serves me right for trying to get good Japanese food at the mall. Don’t waste your time with this place.

It is a large place that, in my perception and at first glance, looks like an Italian-American comedy restaurant because the tables have square tablecloths and most of the decoration alludes to that, but it is completely Asian. The sushi menu is quite extensive, from the most classic to something more elaborate, they have a wide variety of niguiris, soups and starters. The sushi is delicious and the portions are large, the rolls are 8 or some 10. The ramen, especially the spicy tonkotsu, is very robust, the broth is concentrated but has a good flavor, the portions are very large so take that into account. Hot green tea has a rich flavor and is served at a good temperature, it is the perfect companion to be able to happily enjoy a ramen of that size.

We really enjoyed this spot, the chef was very kind and the sushi rolls were absolutely amazing. Some of the specialty rolls are VERY large which is challenging to eat but it is worth it. Don’t let the negative reviews deter you!

This place is alright but it definitely isn't my favorite. The food is just alright for me. The restaurants atmosphere doesn't vibe with me. The bathroom was rather dirty. There are far better sushi places for me unfortunately my friend does like this place.
